SG Bridges the Collaboration among PWI from Three Regions to Hold the Historic UKW Joglosemar

Rembang, January 18, 2023 – PT Semen Gresik (PTSG) continues to strengthen its strategic position as a partner that supports the human resource capacity building for journalists by reinforcing its commitment to media relations with the Central Java Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI), Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) PWI, and Surakarta PWI.

A good collaboration between PTSG and three PWI management was established by organizing a meeting in Yogyakarta on Monday, January 16, 2023. The meeting was attended by PTSG’s Senior Manager of Communication & CSR, Dharma Sunyata, and his staff; the Chairperson of the Central Java PWI, Amir Machmud NS; the Chairperson of the Solo PWI, Anas Syahirul Alim; and the Chairperson of the DIY PWI, Hudono.

PTSG’s Senior Manager of Communication & CSR, Dharma Sunyata, mentioned that, previously, PTSG and Central Java PWI have successfully held six Journalist Competency Tests (UKW) in Central Java from 2019 to 2022.

“Through this coordination, PTSG and Central Java PWI agreed to hold UKW under the name “UKW Joglosemar”, which will be attended by hundreds of participants, in Yogyakarta on March 15-17, 2023. Also, this event is held to commemorate the 2023 National Press Day (HPN),” explained Sunyata in his press release (18/1).

Sunyata added that PTSG remains committed to strengthening media relations since the media play a strategic role and position in providing information, especially related to company policies, corporate agendas, and various forms of information required by company stakeholders.

The Chairperson of Central Java PWI, Amir Machmud, revealed that Semen Gresik fully supported this activity. In the 2023 UKW Joglosemar, the Central Java PWI will lead the event and collaborate with DIY PWI and Surakarta PWI.

“This historic agenda becomes the objective of the three regions, and it is expected to become a pilot project and a model for other regions in Indonesia,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of DIY PWI, Hudono, acknowledged that the UKW Joglosemar was a milestone since it was held in collaboration among three regions.

“We are honored to be chosen as the first venue for this historic agenda. We hope this activity can be carried out consistently,” said Hudono.

A similar thing was conveyed by the Chairperson of Surakarta PWI, Anas Syahirul Alim, who also appreciated the idea of the 2023 UKW Joglosemar. He believed that this brilliant idea would receive positive responses and enthusiasm from journalists who have not taken part in the UKW.

“I think this event is brilliant, effective, and efficient, but the spirit of collaboration is considerably more significant,” Alim concluded.
